The times they are a-changing!
For the first time in Rotary’s 115-year history,
a woman has been named Rotary International president-nominee.
 The inspiring Jennifer Jones,
a member of the Rotary Club of Windsor-Roseland, Canada,
has been nominated to become RI president for 2022-23,
a selection that will make her the first woman to hold this office.
A current Rotary Foundation trustee, Jennifer
has been a member since 1997 and has served Rotary
as vice president, director, training leader, committee chair, moderator,
and district governor.

It would be a good trip to the country as the crops
although late look good with the recent rain.

in front of our club members by current District Governor Jon Bilson.
Well done North Perth Rotary Club.

We celebrated the birthday of Bryan Mickle
a past president and much loved member of our club.
John Garland AM put together a wonderful speech highlighting
the many great things Bryan did in his life and
as a Rotarian. 90 years young yesterday,
we had a wonderful celebration with great fellowship
enjoyed by everyone.
Happy Birthday Bryan!

Past District Governor Robyn Yates and District Governor Elect Kay Phipps
shared a night of fellowship with members at the Rotary Club of Palm Beach WA Inc.

As District 9465 leaders in service they each shared their insights
into undertaking the challenging and rewarding role of District Governor.

Noel and Steve recently presented Asha from
in Gwelup with a certificate to say thank you for all the glasses
they have donated to our glasses donation drive for
.

Global Hand Charity's mobile eye care camps have tested
the eyesight of over 5 213 children and adults.
The optometry team which included volunteers from private optometrists
and staff and students from Melbourne University
travelled across many villages in Laos and Sri Lanka.
The charity has provided over 4000 free pairs of glasses
to needy people in remote areas
. The potential of this support is endless.
The women can now weave their fabric, embroider their garments,
and sort out the rice grains.
The men can continue with their farming, fishing and
 perform tasks requiring adequate eyesight
. Children can continue with their study and learning, without stumbling blocks
and maximising their full potential in the community.

A big thank you to all our club members
who go around to the different optometrists
to collect the glasses and of course another big thank you to the optometrists
who donate glasses to the cause.
If you would like to help with this project by teaming
up with an optometrist in your area, please get in touch

President David Uhe and Big W Midland store manager Gary Hastie,

Last week two members of Freo Rotary
( George Booth and Bob Coventry) were invited to meet the Premier
 and members of the Cabinet.
They were representing Rotary in the District of East Fremantle.
The message is clear that the Community needs so much support,
now and in the future- a role at which Rotary excels.

Members this week were entertained by our Treasurer Klaus,
who recounted his adventures along 'Route 66' a couple of years back.
Treasurer Klaus, our presenter this week,
was encouraged by his two daughters Britt and Katrine.

We also welcomed visiting Rotarian Astrid from

, who brought her friend Sandra along.

We went to the Moora police station for Rotary.
We inspected the old and the new accomodation provided.
The gym setup was very impressive.
 Sergeant Tom introduced his team.
What a great example they are.
The closed circuit town cameras are incredibly clear.

Thanks to Lynn for organising the night.

Ewa Neal and Laura Higgens from The Department of Communities
 attended out meeting
on Monday night to fill us in on their roles in the local community.
We were also lucky to have the newly appointed District Governor Nominee
Pat Schraven
and Assistant Governor Marg Pantall join our meeting.

Thank you Town of Cambridge!
Rotary Cambridge sponsorship of Drinking Fountain
on the North City Beach Bush walk recognised.

Well it was a rubbish meeting tonight,
littered with recycled Dad jokes which clearly had been bottled up
for a chance at a new life, only to be tossed on the "empty" pile
after their once-only usage (thank goodness!).🗑️ 🚮
An informative talk was given by Kerry Wilson regarding the Containers For Change
recycling initiative, which is WA's new container deposit scheme
due to launch from 1 October 2020.
It aims to reduce litter, reduce landfill and improve recycling rates
as well as provide a fundraising opportunity,
 whilst creating hundreds of jobs.
The Shire of Mundaring will be operating a Refund Point
and bag-drop services in support of the scheme.

Our favourite Shed have finished the second batch of bikes for Bikes 4 Humanity
bringing their total to 35 bikes fixed in the past 6 weeks.

A few of our guys have just finished the next batch of 20 bikes
headed for Namibia courtesy of Bikes 4 Humanity.

A group of Baldivis rotarians attended the Rockingham Rotary Quiz night
 last night and won!
Well done crew 👏🏻looks like a great night

What does this photo say about Homelessness?
That we have an amazing dedicated group of female
compassionate caring and competant leaders in the space
Who can lead WA in a post covid sustainable recovery
 that starts with homes first.
