THE BLAZEAID 1000 DAY CHALLENGET
We need 1000 volunteer days to complete the work
we have started
here in the Perth Hills. We need your help to finish.
We have 8 weeks to go, so that means we need
18 volunteers every day until 30 June.
That is absolutely achievable,
our daily average to date is 18.5 volunteers.
We just need to continue the momentum and replace
those fabulous volunteers who have left.
So can you spare a day, a few days, whatever
time you can
give will be appreciated by the many property owners waiting for
help.
You do not need to know how to fence, we will
show you.
New people join us all the time and they do what they can
. We make
sure you have an experienced volunteer with you to guide you.
You can drive to our Basecamp at Brigadoon
and help out for the day or you can stay in our wonderful camp
there which has power, water, showers, toilets, free wifi, 3 meals a day,
and a dump point.
ARE YOU THE ONE IN A THOUSAND WE ARE LOOKING
FOR?

Thirty-four years ago yesterday, on May 4, 1987,
the U.S. Supreme Court ruled in the Duarte decision that
Rotary International must admit women into Rotary clubs
. Today women comprise of over 23% of worldwide membership
with Jennifer Jones becoming the first woman
to serve as RI
President for 2022-23.
We don't have to look further than our own backyard
with Dee Buckland who will serve as the District Governor for 9455
this upcoming Rotary Year 2021-22.
Thank you to all the women who serve in Rotary
as
we couldn't have done it without you all
A corporate golf day and an evening cocktail event helped our Club raise
$14,000 for life-saving research into Cystic Fibrosis.
The two events were generously supported by local businesses and the general community.
The club’s first “Furs and Finery” cocktail party and silent auction, held on Busselton Jetty,
was a sell-out success.
Additional funds were raised from the sale of raffle tickets.
Club President Chris White said all funds raised were donated
to Conquer Cystic Fibrosis South West –
a local volunteer-based organisation dedicated to raising money
for research into the life-threatening
disease.

President Matthew of
has led to a donation of toiletry and beauty products to be used
in the colleges upcoming Wellness Days.
The college offers learning pathways to disengaged students across Australia.
It is hoped we can further develop links between our
club and the college going forward.
(post repeated as editing removed the subsequent photos of the IGA pickup
- too important not to include)
Don’t forget we have our Sock Drive today
- bring
socks or donate to help prevent trench foot among the city’s homeless..
A wonderful evening was enjoyed celebrating
Rotary Australia/New Zealand’s 100th anniversary.
Thanks to Bistro Felix for hosting us
A big thank-you must go to Ben and Rivanna for sharing their
RYLA experiences with the club members.
It was fantastic to hear how transformative the week was for them
and how they’ve connected with Rotary following that experience
. If anyone aged 18-28 years is interested in attending RYLA
please contact Wayne Milnes, the Rotary Club of Rockingham
Youth
Director at youthrotaryrockingham@gmail.com.
It was a pleasure for our members to attend the official opening
of Geegeelup Village today
after their extensive rennovations.
4 years ago the Rotary Club of Bridgetown
donated $100, 000 earned over some years from our yearly
LiveLighter Blackwood Marathon Relay
. We are yery glad to see it benefit our community
and the amazing facility our community
is lucky to have.

Inspiring morning presenting the Giuliani Cantoni RCBL Scholarship
to Elaine Rayco (yr 11) who is hoping to study something maths/medical at UWA
when she finishes her 6 ATAR subjects next year.
She is also studying Japanese (her third language)
and is disappointed she won't be traveling to Japan
as previous NMSHS have been
privileged to do. #COVID
Her very proud mum and were Shelley Cantoni were
also at the assembly.
